A Week Of Great Fashion Looks For Chilly Weather

Monday:

Hey there! Welcome back! This week we are preparing for Thanksgiving, but I guess most of we Americans are. We have put up most of the Christmas trees the rest we will wait until after Thanksgiving. The front porch now is aglow with soft Christmas lights. Imitation candles rest in every window and Christmas music plays all day long.

Tuesday:

In my family, we always have at least one tree up by Thanksgiving (sometimes more). My Grandma use to do all the decorating when I was little but now that I am older and it's not so easy for her to dart up and down ladders I have taken it over (under her careful supervision of course). This year I am using grapevine garland instead of the green stuff or whatever you call it to keep the colors as light as possible.

Wednesday:

My dad's nature tree we plan on decorating tonight when he gets home from work. It is a little over 8 feet tall so if I look short in these photos that's why. It is always fun decorating the tree as a family especially when we get the real one. I love the smell of fresh Christmas trees! It always makes me happy!

Thursday:

It is pretty cold here, actually, it snowed today. The dogs had fun chasing us in it. My mom tried to get some shots but most came out blurry :( oh well guess we are just too fast. Still fun, though.  It has not snowed here in the last few years.  They say it will just be a dusting today but I will enjoy it while I can.   Do you get snow where you live?

Friday:

Fresh flowers just make things look more beautiful.  We are always looking out for a good sale on flowers to brighten up the day.  It is my dad's tradition to pick mom up a pretty bouquet every week when he can.  Nothing makes momma smile like pretty flowers.  It just makes her week.

Time to go and get eggs for the day and I am bundled up for sure. It sure has gotten chilly here fast.  I miss the warm weather but I do love the colors of the fall.  I hurry up today as the wind is especially cold.  Brrrrrrr...

Sunday:

Nothing like a warm and cozy house with a fire in the hearth and a good book to read.  I love this spot for my devotions.  The gentle morning light coming through the window and the beauty of the Christmas Tree.  It sits right by the fireplace too so it is warm.

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Great Beauty At Any Age

Hello, everyone!  I hope you had a beautiful weekend.  We had a good weekend, the weather was so pretty and we got to spend some great time as a family, but my sister is sick and she does not want to have her picture taken this week so  guess who we are having as our model of choice?  Grandma!   She wanted to know if she would be famous now, LOL!

So, here is our next My Crazy Life.  With our recently very famous grandma. We hope you like it! Be sure to say "hi" to Grandma in the comments! It will make her day.

Well, that is all for this My Crazy Life... I will leave you with this thought.

Keep in your mind and your heart the excitement for Christ, like you did when you were first saved.  Don't let the trust and love you felt fade away, no matter what happens.  Keep in your mind always your reward in heaven.  Keep patiently doing God's will.  Keep fellowship with believers, encourage people in their faith and walk, help people who have gone astray.  Then, let's outdo one another in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Have a prayer request?  We would love to pray for you.  Contact us and we will pray with you and for you.

Blessings!

Stitches & Thimbles #2

My mom and I actually drafted the pattern for this skirt and I absolute love this it. It is so comfortable!  (we call the style a Mary-Margret Skirt). Its a simple circle skirt but we designed it to be able to either have a zipper or elastic waist band.

I cut my pattern out and pinned it right side out.

I am using french seams on this skirt so it (Here is a link on how to do it)

This what it looked like after I sewed it.

I trimmed the seam

Flipped so wrong sides are showing.

.
I ironed the seam.

Sewed the seam again.

This is what it looked like after. Then I added an elastic waist band hemmed the bottom.

This is what it looked like finished. To see more pictures of this skirt visit Modest Monday #12

This skirt is the same pattern just with a zipper instead of elastic. To view more photos of this skirt visit

A Week Of Feminine Looks

Good morning! Welcome back, I hope you had a nice weekend! Brrrr! It's chilly here! How is your weather? In my head, my brain has not quite gotten use to the fact that it's the beginning of November and not August.

Monday, I am wearing a long cream skirt, white tank, pink shirt, tan shoes, and a cowboy hat necklace. I am wearing my hair in a simple ponytail. We had a lot of work to get done today including getting ready for a nice storm due in on Halloween night. After school, we made a trip to the local farm supply to buy feed for the chickens and dogs (ok ok and to visit our friend that works there).

Tuesday, I am wearing a brown tank, brown spaghetti strap tank with tan lace, brown long sleeve military style jacket, burgundy skirt, brown leggings, gray boots and a brown scarf. I braided my hair in a simple a side braid and then wrapped a scarf around it securing it into the scrunchy (or whatever you call it). Today was another day of school, and for the coming storm.

Wednesday, I am wearing a floral printed skirt, a blue sweater, gray boots, and a brown scarf. Spent the day working in the house, school and writing. We had to run some errands in town so we took the camera and I got some really beautiful shots of the fall colors. I really love photography. It always makes me happy.

Thursday, Today I am wearing a knee length jean skirt, white tank, cream elbow length sweater and blue jean shoes. We had to go pick up apples from my cousin's house and then everyone was starving so we went out to eat. Yumm! The storm system is coming through tonight so we had to secure everything.

Friday, I am wearing a white eyelet skirt, white tank, blue and white long sleeve flannel shirt, gray boots, and a blue scarf. The storms that came through were pretty bad. One of our trees had the top part ripped off and half of our shed is gone. But the family and the animals are alright and that is all that matters. It's chilly here today so the flannel was nice. After school, we tried to do a little clean up before it got dark but didn't get much done because it started to rain again.

Saturday, I am wearing a long brown skirt, brown velvet top, and brown flannel shirt (if you can't tell I like brown) and black boots. Painting here I come! Finished painting one of the rooms we have been working on and added the final touches. Later I went with dad to the store to pick up stuff for the volcano we are going to turn into a lamp (I know sounds weird).

Sunday, I am wearing a blue and white floral skirt, black long-sleeve shirt, black high-heels and a blue bead necklace from one of my best friends in Africa, Aubrey, and Anna. It is the oldest, Aubrey's birthday. (oh, by the way, Aubrey if by any chance read this post-Happy Birthday) The sermon today was on a Christ-like character. Half way through the church I looked down at my arm and realized I hadn't gotten all the paint off. Oops. At least, the paint was tan.
