Lights...Camera...Action?- Movie Review- Arsenic and Old Lace

This is an all time favorite of ours! Be prepared to laugh until you cry, Carry Grant does puts in an amazing performance like only he can! Get the popcorn (or pie *wink*) and settle in for a great movie!

Arsenic and Old Lace
On Halloween in a charming neighborhood in Brooklin Mortimer Brewster (Cary Grant) and Elaine Harper (Priscilla Lane), marry in secret avoiding reporters seeking a big story. The newlyweds return to their family homes to deliver the news before they go on their honeymoon, and that is where normal ends. Enter a cast of interesting characters. Things quickly get out of control, all too soon he soon discovers that insanity runs in his family (practically gallops) and.his charming aunts Abby and Martha are far from the exception. A brother who thinks he is Theodore Rosevelt, a cop playwright on his first beat, bodies in the basement, and one in the window seat and a maniac (we'll let you decide which brother that is) on the loose. Packed with laughs, Cary Grant expressions, murder, and mayhem oh yeah and pumpkins! After all, this is Halloween! (PS. huge fan of what the aunts hand out to trick-or-treaters!)

Lights...Camera...Action?- Movie Review- Three Girls About Town

I came across this screwball comedy a little while ago and my whole family loves. It involves murder, mystery, a disappearing body, and tons of laughs.

Sisters Faith and Hope Banner are hostesses at the Merchants Hotel that caters to different conventions that arrive in town. A magician's convention is just closing, and a mortician's convention is coming in and in the upstairs ballroom, a labor battle is waiting for the missing government mediator to arrive.

The trouble starts when their youngest sister Charity arrives unexpectedly, and the sisters discover a corpse in the adjoining room. The trio, along with their manager, Wilburforce Puddle try to hide the body from everyone in fear that the bad press will shut down the hotel. Especially Faith's reporter boyfriend Tommy Hopkins, who’s trying to cover the murder for his paper. But the body just won't stay in one place, from a card game to the laundry to the coffin exhibit. If the body would ever stay in one place long enough.

Hope you enjoy.

The Adventures Of The Daughter Of A Hollywood Actress - Act 5

Sorry it's taken so long to get act 5 out, my life has been a little, well...hectic...lately.

Updates:

The Play - The play went very well, and the cast parties were a lot of fun, the first of which involved three or four of my friends dancing in Taco Bell. Oh, and did I mention that we got locked in. That's right I said we were locked in the restaurant. That was a first!

The second night we went to a restaurant called the Corner Pub- can anyone say fish and chips! We pushed a couple of tables together and then went around signing each other's scripts. I laughed so hard I had a headache- but it was great!

Life - Since the play I've been trying to get back into my exercise routine of walking, jogging or biking 5 miles a day as well as well as HIIT, T-Tapp, Kick-Boxing and/or Dance Fitness a few times a week. I recently went Paleo-mostly- and I lost 24 pounds in 4 weeks. So I'm very excited about that.

Also, I'm trying to get back on track and finish up with school, considering I graduate in June. (News flash, turns out I love science, more specifically, physical science and I am really good at learning languages. I have a knack for accents-hence the reason I've had an English accent since I was three- which makes it easier.) Then there's college and majors to decide about. I know I want to be an actor, but I also like fashion/costume design. And then there's the bakery that I kind of started, thanks to my dad's coworkers. One of my friends from Africa said I should do all three. Become an actor, have the bakery to make money in between the lull of acting and auditioning for roles and design and sell my own fashion/costume line.

But I'm not sure that is where I am being led right now... Don't get me wrong, I can come up with a punch line that could match Richard Dimond on a good case (yes, I listen to old crime time radio programs, doesn't everybody?).

So here is my bucket list for the immediate, and not so immediate future:

1. Get my driver's license
2. Get a part-time job
3. Get fit/in shape
4. Buy a violin
5. Take violin lessons
7. Make an (actors) resume (how exactly do you make that kind of a resume when you've only been in one high school production your senior year and a couple of church plays????)
8. Go to auditions/casting calls/cattle calls (how exactly does one find those?)
9. Learn martial arts, self-defence & kickboxing
10. Actually, write more than the character descriptions for some of the books I started
11. Learn parkour/freerunning (again, once I get in shape)
12. Become a better archer, knife thrower & swordsmen (skills I've always enjoyed learning)
13. Learn stunt fighting (I do love a good fight)
& 14. Take some dance classes (ballroom, swing, Irish, jazz, contemporary maybe some pop or hip-hop)

That's all for now, I have to finish school and then exercise. Hmmm, should I do kick-boxing or belly dancing.  Daughter Of A Hollywood Actress signing off.

The Adventures Of The Daughter Of A Hollywood Actress - Act 2

I SURVIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am officially an actress now. I've been cast as a socialite in our upcoming play My Man Godfrey. But more on that later.

The audition was terrifying and nerve-racking. Everyone was putting in some last minute practicing before they were called in.

Three of my best friends and I were being like the Bennet girls (pride and prejudice- the one with Keira Knightley)and trying to look and listen thru the cracks in the doors then we would run to the other side of the building to listen more clearly at another door then when they were finished we'd run back to our original post and strike an innocent and nonchalant pose.

The Adventures Of The Daughter Of A Hollywood Actress - Act 1

The Rosevine Cottage Girls. That’s me, or at least, I make up one-third of the trio. For the most part, I've been the behind the scenes girl, and that’s the way I've liked it. Don't get me wrong, I like to make people laugh, I just can't seem to be able to get my ideas from my head to paper or keyboard when I write. I always get a mental block, but I decided to give it a try, anyway so here goes.

Who am I? I'm the Daughter Of A Hollywood Actress. I'm a California-born Tennessee raised cowgirl. I'm a lover of musicals and movies from old black and white to the modern and Hallmark and music from big band swing and the golden oldies to classical and Celtic. I also enjoy Pop music and B grade movies. What can I say I'm diverse. As well as well versed in music and movies from the 30's to present. I'm also addicted to Pinterest. I also love Biking, jogging, and horseback riding. Hmmm, I think that rhymed.

My name's Brianna, and as I mentioned before, I'm the lesser known one. I have a way of and I quote "saying things only she could get away with" apparently. Like the time, we were out eating and I pointed out in a whisper that the woman a few booths behind my mom and sister looked like Newkirk (Richard Dawson) dressed like a woman in Hogan's Heroes.

The ending result, instantly making them erupt in laughter, just when the waiter came back for our dessert order. He could not figure out what was wrong with us. So instead of giving our order like a normal person I looked up at him, smiled guiltily and said hi. Luckily Cheyenne recovered enough to order hot apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and caramel sauce lightly drizzled over the top. Hey what can I say, she has good taste.

I sometimes speak without thinking, obviously, as well as being slightly sarcastic, both of which well-laced with comic, sometimes dry humor.

Did I mention that I am a drama student? Yes, I am a student of all things dramatic, comical and theater! Bring on the lights, the red carpet and the laughter...

Ok, ok so I am just a homeschool drama student practicing on a church stage with about 20-30 other quirky/slightly crazy 'Doctor Who' loving students which I am proud to call my friends.

And to answer your question yes I have been in something. Several Somethings. Name one? Oh alright, 'The Barber Of Seville'. Given I was about 5 and it was a spur of the moment. They needed someone to come up during the performance to sit in the barber chair through one of the songs. But I did have the entire crowd in stitches!!!! The barber massaged my head while singing the "la la la la la la la la la" part and I kept shaking my head and rolling my eyes.

I've also been in two church productions of the life of Jesus, two children's choir plays, as well as starring in several home productions including a brilliant two girl production of "The Dog & With The Piece Of Meat", and a rousing rendition of Jesus's birth with me playing Joseph and my sister playing Miriam (Well, I called her that but really she was Mary- the mother of Christ and I would say, "Miriam!" and she would say, "Um, My name is Mary!") It ended when I as Joseph refused to die on screen and ran into the next room to die then came back pronouncing me dead. (Mom thought that was great by the way!)

Now for the present...Next week I'm competing in the ESU National Shakespeare Competition as well as auditioning for a part in my drama class's next play "The Play That Went Wrong" and I'm also thinking about trying out for a Shakespeare song competition that my teacher and some friends from class told me about at some point. What do you think? Should I do it?

Busy week? You can say that again! Both the Shakespeare competition and my audition for the play were supposed to be this week but the class was canceled due to winter storm Jonas's untimely arrival, which is a good thing because I would have to of needed ice skates to get to school.

Want to see my audition?

I will let you know how it goes next week. In the meantime, I'm going to hit the front hill and go sledding!
