Summery Navy Blue Outfit

Hi guys! It's raining today so we can't work out in the yard today, so its house work for us- er ah ok so actually I am working on a photo book with the photos from our trip to California. But I'm inside and I'm working, so therefore I'm doing "House work" right?

We got so much done in the yard last week! It looks wonderful. And I may have started the pool, what? Its almost Memorial day... its only about 5 weeks away, give or take a few days. The mower is still in the shop (going on week 2). AHHHHH! We really need to mow- and while it is possible to use our push weed-eater its is extremely unpractical on an acre and a tenth. Especially since we live on a very sharp hill.  I think we need goats. Think it would bother the neighbors? They are just big dogs right? Baaaahhhh. What? He has a cold!

I finished a great book called The Confessions Of A Prayer Slacker by Diane Moody this morning. Loved it!
Brianna is helping me out this week :) , She is wearing a blue printed skirt, and dark blue tank top today.

Chiffon Skirt and Lavender Top

Good morning! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. We went to a local church to watch "The Thorn". It was great! Also over the weekend I managed to get into something and now I have welts from my wrist to my elbow that itch like crazy! Leave it to me to get into things.

Also over the weekend we decided to sponsor a little boy from Uganda. He is so cute, I can't pronounce his first name but the name after it is David so I call him that. Keep him in your prayers?

Someone is supposed to come pick up the mowers to fix them, so we can get the grass mowed. We are the only ones with really long grass in the neighborhood now. Hopefully they can fix it soon so we can get it mowed this week. In between thunderstorms that is. Who knows maybe by the end of the week everyone else's will be the same length as ours.

It's hot and muggy today like it is in summer, which is strange for April but that's Tennessee for you. Always doing the opposite of what you expect. Makes me wish the pool was open for swimming, and we were having a BBQ. The window next to me is open and my cat is staring at me, when I look at her she gives me a short meow. She is trying to figure out how to get in, but to her disappointment the screen in the window keeps her out.

The eggs in the incubator are supposed to hatch next week,  I still need to get a brooder set up for them. Hopefully the hatch is a good one and all 4 eggs hatch (and please God no roosters!).

Today I am wearing a purple sweater and cream skirt and cream shoes. For accessories and jewelry I am wearing a dark purple flower in my hair, black sunglasses, pearl necklace and bracelets and simple stud earrings. I parted the front part of my hair to one side and bobby pinned it there. Then I used a Bumpit to push up the back half of my hair and pulled it all into a ponytail. Then used the flower to cover the bobby pins.

eShakti Anchor Embellished Colorblock Dress Review

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share this amazing dress with you that we received from eShakti last week for our opinion on their product.
I have always loved "Sailor" themed outfits (probably something to do with my mom dressing us in sailor suits when we were tiny so we could match dad - a Navy boy himself.) Anyway, eShakti sent us this beautiful custom made dress to review and I am totally in love with it! And the service has been great! They did a great job custom sizing it to fit me which means it fits like a glove.

I love how the navy blue looks against the white! And the pockets! Not many skirts much less dresses I own have pockets, but I love how handy they are! They let me customize the size, the neckline, the length, and choose whether I wanted sleeves if I wanted to remove the pockets and if I wanted to leave the anchor on it.

I chose to pair it with a set of pearl earrings and simple pearl necklace of my grandmother's, but it's one of those amazing dresses that look great a dozen different ways. I love how comfortable it is!

All in all, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress and can't wait to shop there again (dad this is the point you run for the hills)! And I have gotten lots of compliments on it.

eShakti offers dresses, skirts, blouses in off the rack sizes or custom made to your size. First-time customers also get 40% off coupon and free customization of their first order (a $7.50)

Black Printed Tiered Skirt Outfit

Good morning... It is morning, right? We got a pup Friday, he is absolutely adorable! He just is an early bird. And insists on getting up at 6:30 to eat breakfast. Which wouldn' t be so bad if I hadn't stayed up late watching a movie? So today I'm letting my sister take over while I get some sleep since I am the one that gets up with him and she sleeps in... So Brianna take it away and get Puppy off my toes! I'm going back to bed.

Hey there! Brianna here taking over my crazy life today to share this outfit I wore in California with you. I am wearing a black tank top and black and white skirt with white sandals. I braided a piece of hair by my face on one side and left the rest hanging.

Wispy Green and Blue Skirt Outfit

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! It's a beautiful day with a high in the 70's here in middle TN. The daffodils are in full bloom and all the trees are budding. One of our hens is broody, and quite cranky these days. We're expecting rain showers this afternoon. We are going to the movies tonight to watch Cinderella. I can't wait!

Friday we went to Nashville's first Irish Fest. Despite the rain, there was a pretty big crowd. The first time I have ever seen a Parking Garage used to park people. But it did keep you dry and it was close enough to the stage so you could listen to the music. We went because my sister is such a big fan of the Willis Clan.  We saw them perform one song but we had to leave an hour before they did their full performance because we were so wet and miserable when it was getting dark.  Brianna was sad but understood.  They seem to be a very sweet and talented family.  Hope that we can go and see them again for Brianna.

Leaf Print Skirt And Sweater Outfit

Good morning! Its a bit dreary today... it supposed to rain for most of the week. Anyone care for a boat load of mud? LOL! Well I'm sure someone other than me could do something creative with it, I really can't stand mud. Especially when the chicken decide to lay their eggs at the back of the runs where there is no door and I have to crawl through it to get them. But hey, on the bright side- its much warmer than last week! Which is very nice.

Yesterday mom and I were working on matching skirts, I can't wait to get them finished!
So today I am wearing a gray top, brown and cream skirt, camera necklace and tan sandals.

Brown Skirt And Graphic Tee

Good morning! It's cloudy today with a high of 55 but we are expecting an ice storm tomorrow which at some point is supposed to turn to ice and snow. NO!!!!! Spring, I want spring! LOL! We've been watching an old TV show that is based in Hawaii, needless to say, it is making me miss the beach... a lot.

Today Brianna is helping me out. Everyone say hi to Brianna. *Hi Brianna* ok now that that is out of the way. Brianna is wearing a printed capped sleeve printed purple shirt, brown knee length skirt, and black boots.

Silk Leaf Skirt And Sweater

Good morning! Well the snow and ice has all melted from last week, at least most of it, There is still a few slick places. Most of last week we were stuck at home but at the end of the week dad was finally able to get out and go to work but he had to park at the bottom of our 150' straight up a hill driveway. Sledding was fun though especially at night, when its hard to see to dodge the trees and the hole or two the dogs dug... ok and the telephone pole. But very very cold! We could only stay out for short amounts of time. It warmed up a little Sunday and we were finally able to get out and run to the store for chicken food.

Sunday was my grandma's birthday. I miss her so much... It seems so weird to not have her here.

It's cloudy here today and cold. We haven't been able to clean up after the ice storm yet. The chickens are just glad that the tarps we had around the coops to keep them dry and warm are off during the day now. As for me? Well I can't wait for spring! Tired of the cold weather ready to start planting. :)

Today I am wearing a brown and cream skirt with a leaf pattern on it, black sweater, tear drop necklace and black boots.

California Trip | Day 8

Hi there! Today we are heading home... :( . I don't want to leave!!!!!!!!!! Wahhhhh!!!!!!!! Sorry. I'm ok now. (Wink) Anyway today we are leaving CA. I miss everyone already! Mom and I keep joking that as soon as dad turns around we are going to take off running and go back to the beach. As I sit here, LA County fire department slips in from the boarding terminal to treat an older lady in a wheelchair. She only speaks Spanish so they are having a little bit of a hard time talking to her. I glance over and I can't help but chuckle at the 51 on there hats. Now I have to watch Emergency! Gee I love that show! Have you ever seen it?

Well we're here in Chicago. It's dark and from what I could see while landing its snowy here. The airport is full of people waiting for their flights. We had to run to where our next flight was supposed to be boarding... key word be supposed. In reality our flight was delayed and we got to stretch our legs for about 30 minutes. Next it's about an hour and half flight to Nashville, and then we will be back at our house and we can all go to bed!!!!!! Weeeeeee! Ok yes I am tired... very... ve...ry... tire...d... ZZZZZZZZ.... Hmm... what? Sorry! Our wonderful friend dropped our dog off at our house this morning so she would be there when we got home. Thanks Trish! You're the best!

Today I am wearing a cream and brown leaf patterned knee length skirt and brown long sleeve top, black shoes, a white and gold necklace and pearl earrings. (Note to self check the weather for when you get home so you aren't freezing while waiting for the airport shuttle to take you to the car ~ Me)

California Trip A Day At The Beach

My Sis and I heading to the beach!
Good morning friends! How are you all? Wow, who knew a week could go by so fast! We are heading back home tomorrow. "Home" that seems so strange to say now... as soon as I stepped onto the beach it felt like home. I hate to leave... I love it here so much! We have had such a great time, but there are still so many things we want to do. So much more time we want to spend with our family. Ahh, another time... So here we are, in Huntington Beach again. The place where my mom grew up. She is smiling again, it has been so long since we have all really laughed. It's such a beautiful place... at least as much as I've seen it from walking on the beach the last two days. Tonight my Aunt Debbie joined us after we dropped a bowl of soup off to our cousin who is pregnant and has a cold. :(. Wish she felt better so she could come with us.  Aunt Debbie is waiting for us at the restaurant to stay out of the breezes (she has a cold too).  She said to take our time, I can't seem to drag myself away.  It is like trying to say goodbye to a very old friend.  People buzz around me asking me to take their photographs too.  Everyone is so friendly and having such a good time. Ahhh, let me memorize the sound of the sea lapping the shore and the gulls flying above.

So, today I am wearing a tan/brown shorts and a white tank, silver cross necklace, and black sunglasses. I also somehow managed to get stuck with a black sweatshirt (weird thing is I didn't bring a sweatshirt my dad did...) and shoes? Umm no they stayed in the car! Sis is wearing a pair of green shorts a white top, black hat with a cross, a shark tooth necklace, and brown sunglasses (and of course it has fancy shiny jewel things on the side. After all we are twins!). She also brought her corduroy jacket.

California Trip | Day 6

Good morning! Today we are at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. It is so amazing here! The day was warm and sunny with a gentle cool breeze blowing through the palm trees above us.  It is a beautiful sound. Walking through the ruins of the old stone church was so peaceful, and beautiful. It's the kind of place that makes you want to spend hours there.  If you want to see more photos please check out our other blog (link is at the bottom of this post).

Mission San Juan Capistrano was first founded October 30th, 1775 by Father Lasuen and a detachment of soldiers. But a few weeks after they received word of a revolt in San Diego, the group returned to San Diego to help. The mission was re-founded on November 1, 1776 (All saints day). It is the seventh of twenty-one to be founded in Alta California

Like the other six missions, San Juan Capistrano was established to expand the boundaries of Spain and to spread Christianity to the Native peoples of California. The missions were the center of learning and training for the Natives. Over the next thirty years, the Mission grew by leaps and bounds. In 1806 Mission San Juan Capistrano had a population of over 1,000 people, over 10,000 head of cattle and they had completed the "Great Stone Church"

Sadly after 1812 the mission began to decline. An earthquake struck causing the Great Stone Church to cave in during a worship service, killing forty people who tried to escape through the doors that had been twisted in their frames. The Spanish government could not protect and keep the mission's supplied with the supplies they needed. In 1821 Mexico won its independence from Spain, By 1834 the Mexican government decided to end the mission system completely, the land from Mission San Juan Capistrano was divided and sold to twenty prominent Families from California. The Mission was sold at auction to John Forster Governor, Pio Pico's brother-in-law for $710 even though it was valued to be worth more than $54,000. Over the next twenty years, the mission was a private ranch property of the Forster family

In 1848 California became part of the United States as part of the "Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo" Only two years after becoming a territory of the United States in 1850 it became a state. President Lincoln gave the mission back to the Catholic church.

On March 9th, every year at dawn swallows return to the mission to rebuild their mud nests clinging to the shell of the old Stone Church. People from all over the world gather to watch "the miracle of the swallows" as the birds arrive from Argentina. On October 23rd, they take flight again circling the mission twice as if to say goodbye then turn their wings back toward Argentina.

So today I'm wearing a white knee length skirt, white tank top, tan sandals, dolphin necklace and clear stud earrings.

California Trip | Day 5

"Cheyenne"Cheyenne wake up," My eyes snap open. Morning! SeaWorld! I jump out of bed OK stagger. Stagger is probably is a better word, considering it's still dark and my eyes are still blurry. I finally manage to find my clothes in my very large suitcase and head for the bathroom. Note to self-do not attempt at putting makeup on while still half asleep! The result is... well you can probably guess. So after fixing my makeup, I tracked down my shoes, which I had forgotten and left my the front door. Silly me! I zipped my suitcase back up and grabbed the camera bag and my purse and headed for the car. I feel a lot better today thanks to something mom and dad got for me. It's all foggy and beautiful! Finally, all at once the fog lifts to reveal the mountains and huge boulders.Gorgeous!!!!!

First, we are heading to a military base to buy tickets. Then we are off to SeaWorld. Ok so we stopped at Starbucks for breakfast... and then drove by the house we lived in when Brianna and I were born and then we headed for the base. :) After that, it was straight on to SeaWorld! We had so much fun, especially when it came to getting in the water with the dolphins!

For the record (just in case you ever wondered) wet-suits are a pain to get on. Think wet swimsuit and triple it. And yes you still end up wet in them (funny I always thought they were supposed to keep you dry) We walked through a ton of the park looking at all the amazing animals. It was the first time I've seen a lot of them. Some I hope I never get the chance to meet in the wild. Right, about now dad mentions that this was a great way to spend his birthday. Mom gasps, "Shoot! I completely forgot!" Brianna says something about she left his card on her dresser.  Oh man, do we all feel terrible!

We found a water ride, which was really fun but very, very cold! LOL! And of course, I was the one in the seat that no matter how the ride turns got wet... Really?? I think mom and dad forgot we are driving a rental car... We walked around some more and then decide to head back to Uncle Steve and Aunt Kathy's house.   Mom texted her brother and asked where to stop for a cupcake on the way home.  They said not to worry about it and that they would take care of it.  My poor uncle and aunt are sick and still they went out to make sure my dad had a good birthday.  When we got there was a bunch of balloons on the table and a cake with a card and gift. They were so sweet!

Tomorrow we are heading down (or is it up? Over?) to the beach! On the way, we are stopping at the San Juan Capistrano Mission. I can't wait! But I wish we didn't have to leave Uncle Steve and Aunt Kathy's... Tonight we are watching dolphin tale 2.

Today I am wearing a green and blue skirt, gray shirt, black shoes and anchor earrings.
